Miss Sydney went hunting with her father in the local region and bagged this gorgeous buck! The buck looked up and reportedly saw them so Miss Sydney made a quick, well aimed crack shot with her crossbow to down this magnificent animal. He only made it 20 yards after she sent the arrow!
Congrats to her! Lucas and Gus both got their first gobblers with Lt. Spuchesi in the past two weeks! Check out their pics! Congrats to Gus and Lucas! Thank you Lt. Spuchesi for sharing your lease and birds!
Joe got into some catfish at Hopyard recently. The cut bait was the go to. It was slow at first but he filled a stringer and his family had a good fish fry too!
The weather was windy but the fishing was decent. Some of the youth caught some nice fish! Officer Jones and Officer Baumbach showed up at KGMS to educate our students about native snakes (corn snake and king snake) and also raptors that are used for falconry. Officer Baumbach talked about the snakes and Officer Jones showed us his Harris's hawk that he hunts with. We did our annual turkey call making event with call parts from Brookside Calls. Monty Clift came in and did a nice presentation on calling birds and turkey habits for us to get us in the spirt! ![]() Morgan Braden and Nico Materka answered an early wake up call and withstood bitterly and potentially record breaking temperatures to travel to Monquin Outfitters about an hour and a half south of us to get some waterfowl action on the last day of the season. Morgan sent us a text saying, "I got a big duck!" As I looked at the picture I realized she was joking. Her "duck" was HUGE even for a Canada goose! Nico got into some ducky action and took a wood duck. Congrats to our two members for getting in on some waterfowl action. Since it was a combo Youth and Veteran's Waterfowl Day I gave some field hunting for geese a try later that afternoon but the only geese came in minutes after legal shooting. Of course they flew low and slow right over me when I could not shoot! That is hunting for you! We held a turkey call making event and encouraged youth to go turkey hunting on youth day. Here are some results! Addison Rollings with a 21.3 pound mature gobbler 10 inch beard. Her dad, Chris, estimates it to be 3 years old. NICE bird. Great shot Addy! ![]() Kevin Armentrout got a nice turkey using the call he made in outdoor club. 22 pounds, 10.5 inch beard 1.25 inch spurs. Great job scouting and calling in your own bird Kevin! Jacob Rollins went hunting on the family farm and tagged this gorgeous 24 pound monster. It had an 11 inch beard. Great shot Jacob! |
